After the entire wax
flew, the matrix is ready. At this point, it is necessary
to melt the silver which will fill the hollow spaces
left by the wax.
In order to be processed and turned into a jewel, the
silver is alloyed with other metals, especially copper.
Our company uses only 'oxygen free' copper, the
oxygen being main responsible for the oxidation of metal
which gives the jewel a dark and matt color. The result
is that the alloy is white and brilliant.
There are various silver alloys with different
titles according to the percentage of the metal.
In Italy, the traditional title used in the silver jewelry
environment is 925 (corresponding to the so-called
'sterling' of the Anglo-Saxon countries). This
means that of 100 percent of the alloy, at least 925
is silver and maximum 75 is copper.
We use a starting alloy called 940: 15 more percents
of silver according to the title which, impressed
in an oval molding, must be stamped on every jewel near
the producer's identification mark.
